I am all for helping everyone fix there car in any way I can contribute.
However, your not fixing your car.
I guess the questions should be directed to your mechanic. He replaced your fuel pump.
WHY?
HE or She is working on your car instead of yourself.
If you are paying a mechanic to get your car going.
The only question is, why is it not going yet.
Directed only to the person you are paying good money to for doing this job.
My customers don't get online and ask such questions. They pick up a running vehicle and pay the bill.

I was about to suggest replacing the mechanic next. So this person changed the fuel pump and didn't test it to see if it works or was the original problem? Then took your money? WOW. This is why I do all my own work.

I'd be delighted to get paid to replace random parts on someone else's car. There's no way I can afford to do that on my own car.
From: Arizona - If you don’t know CFI, STOP proliferating the myths around it...
Like mentioned, why was the pump changed? Obviously, the pump wasn't bad or it would be running. My guess is, that whoever you have/had working on your car does NOT know anything about CFI, like so many other so called mechanics. The first thing I would suggest is to purchase a GM service manual and start reading it. It has lots of great info in it to troubleshoot your 82. P.S. Shotgunning parts is NOT troubleshooting an issue, stop doing that unless you just want to spend more money needlessly.
One more thing. If the motor cranks, but doesn't start, check the 30amp fuse in the battery box in the right back corner. If it is bad, the motor will crank, but will not start. This fuse is the direct dedicated fuse for ECM power. It will crank, have spark, but no fuel because there will be no injector driver power...hence, no start.
Also, like posted. Check these two 3amp fuses for injector #1 and #2 to see if they are good along with the fuel pump fuse. Also ensure the terminals are clean. GL
