Hello. My question is about the Bushings that fit into the T Handle on the stock manual shifter. I'm not sure if mine are missing? Not sure where exactly they fit on the T Handle. Do they fit on the rod or are the buried further down. I can't see them when looking down into the hole after pulling the T Handle and rod. Should I be able to? Thanks for the help.
I took a quick look at ZIP Products and they have a 1969-1976 Shifter rebuild kit available. DocRebuild has the same kits for the same price but do also have the 1977-81 for the same price.
When I had my 427 put back in the car the restoration shop guys rebuilt my shifter to "as new" but since I have a 1968 it is a one year only part. It worked well but was still not my idea of a sports car transmission/shifter. So after a while I removed the factory shifter and installed a Hurst Shifter in it's place. Wow, what a difference the Hurst made in the shifting of the car. Suddenly the throws were shorter and much more precise and I virtually never missed a gear. They are kind of expensive but well worth it if you plan on keeping your Corvette.
I think it was all done in about an hour with a car lift doing it myself. It was much easier 7 feet above the ground!

What bushings, none that I know of. Provide a link to the bushings.

When I rebuilt my 68 4 speed shifter, the only bushings I saw (and replaced) were on the linkage end down on the transmission. I did not find any bushings in the T Handle itself, only a spring under the shift ball that applied tension to the T handle to allow shifting into reverse.
