I am in the market for a C3 and have been gravitating towards 78-82; please let me know your thoughts on the following unit being offered on BaT from County Corvette. Thanks in advance!
It looks super clean and appears to match the odometer's low mileage. According to the oil change stickers, it's hardly been driven since '88.
It's too bad that Patriot Chevrolet wasn't restrained tighter with the rotor changes and possibly the shocks but I am impressed that the car passed emissions without any apparent engine work.

The BaT comments are likely more picky than ours would be. I'll just say that the car is extremely red. Fixing the car's biggest fault* will cost $5K or more, but that car could make a great 5-speed restomod.
*No, not the Crossfire.

Thanks for the feedback, what is the biggest fault in your opinion? Wife likes the red on red, which we all know is important feature of any car! LOL!

The automatic transmission of course! Easy to fix by adding a third pedal, but not a cheap swap. The first C3 was the one my wife wanted. The second one had a 4-speed.
With a TKX swap and some suspension mods, you can end up with a car that is better than any C3 GM ever sold to the public.
That car has been babied all its life. You can't go wrong when they are in excellent all original condition. In my opinion the value is $22,000 to $25,000. The dealer may want more. Much cheaper and not nearly as fast as a new red corvette, but it will get just as many looks and thumbs up... I bought my 1980 4 speed in 1996 from a local Houston Corvette dealer with 828 original miles on it.
You asked for input so here's my .02:
Welcome to Corvette Forum! I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say you may be relatively new to Corvettes. I say that because, as beautiful as this Red/Red coupe is, there is nothing really special about the 82's. Now, having said that, there will be some 82 owners who strongly disagree.
I guess it boils down to what you really want. Plus it sounds like your wife is somewhat involved in the purchase. Just know that my wife loved to go for rides in my beautiful Red 2001 Convertible, with either the AC on or the top down. But she detested my 72 Red/Red Big Block Coupe! Dollar for dollar, for cruising with the wife, you can't beat a C5 or C6. The ride quality and build quality is greatly improved.
Feel free to PM me to discuss further. We could even talk on the phone.
Best wishes in your search, Rickman

Looks like a very clean unmolested 82, which is rare these days. I personally didn't like that it had the 225 tires on it. That is something I would change and go 255 optional tire on the car, looks a lot better with the wider tire, but that's just me. GL is you purchase it.
Keep in mind 82's have cross fire injection. I cannot say good or bad things about it. I have no experience with CFI. I have seen may posts complaining about it. You might want to do a little research on CFI and than decide is you want to go it. 82 and 84 are the only years corvettes had that system. Good luck.
