Default HELP REQUESTED: 1979 With a hatchback

I got a cheap 79 vette off craigslist earlier this year, I admittedly know nothing about C3s but I wanted to give it a shot.
Through my research, I've found that there was no option for hatch glass in 79, so I assume this is one of those 80's aftermarket kits.
I have a 1980 parts car with all the pieces I need to replace this with a fixed window. Is this worth trying to sell? I understand that these are notoriously leaky and unreliable. Any advice for this newbie would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks fellas!

Did you get that car in NJ or the surrounding area?

Looks like one I looked at 4 years ago, it was rough then. Yes that is a kit, the glass has good value, maybe the hinges if they are not splayed. If you have the fixed glass, trim and clips you should be good to go, a lot less trouble in the long run.... The gasket for the hatch is available if you go that route.

@1860army

No, this was found out in northern CA.

Thank you for the info! It's been an interesting project so far. I've restored other classics, but Vettes are a totally different game haha.

That hatchback conversion was made by a company called Cars & Concepts in Brighton Michigan and jointly developed by Cars & Concepts and Chevrolet Engineering. About the only parts available for them today is the weatherstrip and gas struts. The glass itself can sell for $2000+ and the cable release and hinges are highly sought after by owners of 82 Collector Editions, as well as owners of 78-82's that have a Cars & Concepts hatch conversion with missing or broken parts.

Here's a link to an older Forum post with some pictures and other information about the Cars & Concept Hatch conversion.

@gbvette62 Thank you for the info! I only payed 2500 for the entire car, so I think I will use the parts car glass and recoup my costs by selling the glass.

Though, I have done more research, and the hinges are black instead of chrome, is it possible this is off of an 82 CE vs the kit?

Very possible as the OEM hinges were black
