I’ve had my old Halon fire extinguisher in my car for the last two years, it never got properly mounted either but at least it was there and accessible. Now I’m reading the gauge and it needs recharging. I doubt I’ll be able to get that done so its time to pay up for a new one. I’ve had fires in my vehicles in the past and used a dry chemical extinguisher which did do the job saving my ride from burning but it also resulted in a tear down to clean a disaster of that chemically corrosive mess. No way I’m going with anything other than a clean agent and it looks like its going to be Halguard.
I’ll be going with the larger 2.5 lb bottle and though I’m all about the challenge of fabricating my own brackets and mounts the one they sell looks pretty trick.
Has anyone mounted one of these in their early C3 in front of the drivers seat ?
Was it a simple install ?
Do you find any interference with your legs while driving ?
Mine is a ‘68 with what I think are ‘70 buckets installed prior to me.
They are reupholstered look nice and are comfortable so they stay for the time being.
I've had this one from VetteWorks bookmarked for install in front of my passenger seat but haven't purchased it yet. This one works with the 2.5 lb Amerex standard dry chemical, Halotron, and Halon FEs. I'm 6-1 and can't imagine having enough room for either unit in front of the driver's seat without an awkward maneuver getting in and out while stepping over the side pipes.

No side pipes, but when I get out I still look like I ‘d been shot.
I’d think the taller you are the higher you knees would be so no problem . The main concern is being readily available when you need it, that overrides pretty much everything else.
I’ve seen the Element and read mixed reviews on it. It’s not rechargeable and I’ve had no experience with it so I’ll stay the course with the halguard.
I’ve used this type of extinguisher more than a few times and had training with it. Using it when needed is second nature and in an emergency thats what you want.
I am waiting to see if someone here has installed their mount to their seat and find out if there were any issues with the mounting. Rather pickup tips than break new ground, again.
I don't use that mount but just wanted to suggest that it might be a lot easier to get at in mounted on the passenger side than drivers side.
At least to me it was easier to reach over than to fish around under my own legs.
Made from a piece of bed frame
Moves with the seat. Still can reach **** and belt clip. Riders don't like it on their side and I would rather have control of it

I’ll set the one I have there and see how it works out
I have one like this:
That tucks perfectly under the front of the passenger seat, no mounting necessary. And I can get to it in a flash.
Dry chemical ?
Its better than burning but not by much .
I’ve had the bowls in my carb stick and puke fuel back over the manifold. I barely got to say oh great and it went up in flames. I had a dry chemical extinguisher handy so I immediately got it out and while nothing was damaged by flame I had to pull the carb an manifold off for a thorough cleaning. Had I used a clean agent that wouldn’t have been necessary.

I changed to one of these earlier this year. It's so small in comparison to the old bottle I had that, at the moment it is not actually fixed anywhere, it just lays in the rear compartment!
Sunflower, have you mounted yours anywhere and if so, where?

I installed this seat bracket for use with a conventional fire extinguisher.
When I ordered the Element 50 I ordered an additional clip bracket as it comes with a single clip bracket. ADDITIONAL Mounting Clip

Sunflower - Thanks, I'll look into something like that.
polo91 - It is definitely easy to leave it loose, and easy to grab in an emergency. But, on long trips with luggage it tends to get "buried" if it fall between stuff! 😁 I managed to "tweak" my back last week, so grovelling around in the car is off the table at the moment😡, but when I can get a seat out I'll investigate fitting a bracket.......
