I'm curious why no one (other than, apparently, me) has a Purple K extinguisher in their car... It's specifically designed for fuel and oil fires.
For mounting, it's just freely rolling around behind the passenger seat. 🙃

Dry chemical ?
Its better than burning but not by much .
I’ve had the bowls in my carb stick and puke fuel back over the manifold. I barely got to say oh great and it went up in flames. I had a dry chemical extinguisher handy so I immediately got it out and while nothing was damaged by flame I had to pull the carb an manifold off for a thorough cleaning. Had I used a clean agent that wouldn’t have been necessary.
I will have to look at the actual extinguisher again, that picture might not be correct. I know when I bought it it was specifically for automotive.
I had a fire extinguisher mounted with the bracket it came with. What I went to a HPDE, the inspector made me take it out. He said if I was in an accident, it would become a projectile. At first I was annoyed and then realized he was correct.
I switched to the H3R PERFORMANCE Extreme Duty Roll Bar Brackets
Or you can just install a simple clip release bracket to the floor with one bolt. Just locate it immediately in front of the seat when in full-forward position. Even with the seat further back, the tank won't be in the way of your feet or legs.

Full forward !
My seat is all the way back and I could use some more.
That is a simple option though.
You guys with the element are going to have a bad time with a real fire. It’s a glorified smoke bomb, lots of videos of it failing. I would prefer to spend the money and space to not watch my corvette burn down.

Halon is worth every penny.
Without question. Last thing in the world to skimp on in this case
Apparently, wind inhibits the extinguisher gas from staying where it needs to be.
I skimmed through a lot of the comments looking for all the personal experiences about how it saved their car and the guy is wrong, but didn't find any. The reply to this comment though is interesting:

That was impressively bad. A wet towel would have stopped the grease fire, and a few seconds of stomping would have gotten the wood fire.
The primary objective of the fire extinguisher is not to save the car (though it might do that, too). It's to give you a few extra seconds to get yourself, and your passenger(s), out of the car to safety. The secondary objective is the same, but for someone else.

Maybe I am wrong but I was under the impression most fires did not start in the cabin so..let's rethink that primary objective...which is to put out the fire..happening in the car...therefore.....

Then why mount it under the seat, secure but within reach, at all?
