Default ‘68 wood steering wheel

Anybody know if the wood steering wheel for a ‘68 from zip will fit on a later c3 let’s say a ‘75? Only thing I’m seeing different is the ‘68 uses a shim for the wheel hub and it’s 15” in diameter. I believe the stock wheel is 16” but the spokes are exactly the same. I’d really like to have the wood wheel to accent all the black interior. Give it that Eleanore vibe! Thanks for any input.

I know that the bolt pattern is the same. So yes it should bolt on.
Now if you have a 76, well then that's the Red Headed stepchild.
The differences 63-82, Other than the stepchild, are in the diameter and the depth of the dish.
So, yes it will bolt on. Yes if you look around you will also find direct fit wood wheels for your 75.

The 67/68 wheel (plastic simulated wood) is 16” diameter. Reduced to 15” in 69 and obviously redesigned. That 1” makes a difference if you are a bigger driver but I think it will fit.
I am fairly certain you can get an aftermarket wood wheel that will work for your car that will remain 15” and will bolt right up.

Thanks for the replies. Zip-Corvette offers a 68 "wood" steering wheel and a 69-75 black plastic wheel (like my OE one). It looks like it's the exact same wheel except for the material used and that the '68 includes a "shim." I'm guessing they call it a 68 wheel is because that's the only year with an OE wooden steering wheel? I'd rather not stray from the thin wheel with finger grips but would love the wood look if it would mount correctly.

are they selling a repro 65-66 real teak wood wheel. if so the 63-66 wheels the center spokes are flat. whereas 67-82 the spoke has a step where they meet at the bottom. and the hub has a notch to accept this. so if you want to use a 63-66 wheel on a 67-82 hub the "shim" is to fill the notch

Can you post a link to the wheel you are looking at on ZIP? I checked and could not find a “68”. I saw something they are calling a “63 to 68” which is odd because 63 through 66 are different then 67-68.

Also 67-68 wheels are simulated wood (plastic) and 16”.

1963-1968 Corvette Corso Feroce LT-15 Hardwood Steering Wheel (zip-corvette.com)

I originally was looking through the paper catalog which has the "68" steering wheel. That's all it says in the description: "68 Steering Wheel" Just got on the website and this is the one I'm looking at on paper and on screen. Part # SC-882. It's 15" in diameter and actual hardwood. Part #SC-761 is the synthetic wood material wheel.

Yes if you look it's technically a 63-66 wheel.

I'm pretty sure I answered that way back at the beginning of this thread. The bolt pattern is the same.
Zip Corvette is not the only place that sells wood replacement wheels.

VSW has several options as well. I have a VSW S6 wheel in my 80 (back when it was Volante).

67 & 68 are the same, made of PLASTEEEEEEEEEK & both are 16"

VS Zip's description:
Genuine hardwood steering wheel designed as an upgrade over factory simulated 1963-1968 Corvette steering wheel. Features brushed stainless steel spokes in a three-spoke design, sculpted finger indentations, and 4" depth similar to the factory steering wheel. 15" diameter. Designed to be used with the factory column hub and horn button. Includes shim for 1967-1968 hub application.

To your 1975 plug and play question. No, you must fabricate a simple adapter. So called shim in other posts.

I've been looking for a wood steering wheel for my '75, too. It has the original tilt column. I've seen this Volante wheel offered by Mid America(15 inch, 2 inch deep dish),

https://www.mamotorworks.com/corvett...d-spokes-46608

But this note puzzles me,

"NOTE: This steering wheel has roughly a 1/2" shallower depth than the original steering wheel. Due to this, this steering wheel is not compatible with cars equipped with tilt/telescopic steering columns as there is not enough clearance."

I measured my original steering wheel, and it has a 15 inch outside diameter, with a 2.5 inch deep dish. I can't figure out how a 0.5 inch less dish would make the steering wheel hit anything? Is it something under the horn button?

The odd thing is another similar Volante wheel(which I actually like better) doesn't have that note, even though it's also said to have only a 2 inch dish,
