I know this has been asked several times, but can not seem to find the old posts related to this item. Want to use a serpentine system on my C3, what us the best way to do this?
Cheapest way is Ebay or junkyard. Late 80's early 90's Camaro. If you don't mind spending cash then someone like March makes nice units. The Camaro unit will fit you AC compressor unless you've changed to a Sanden, then you will need a kit.
I installed and ran the Vintage Air Front Runner System. Installed easily and I was quite happy with it. You can find this at their site noted below. Good luck with your search.

Second the vote for the camaro system. youll always be able to get replacement parts
Another option is summit sells serpentine pulleys that fit your stock accessories. may not be a true serpentine but you wont get the squealing/throwing v belt problem
That's the one that came with my ZZ6 EFI crate motor.
Changed out the water pump for a reverse one.
Reverse mounted the idler wheel to fit the C3 front cross member. I had to grind off a bit of the one end of the idler wheel mount to have it fit.
I used a Sanden AC compressor with CAA system that came with the custom mount kit for this setup.
With all of that, I had to order a longer belt.
The alternator sits higher than the factory V-belt one so if you route your upper hose near there, that will have to be re-routed.
Overall, it works.
Cheers,
Richard

This is the same as the camaro system. Main change required, is the water pump, this kit also is re-man ps pump , ac unit , alternator.
The alternator will need to be re-wired to use, adapter for the AC unit to connect to the factory hose housing, 1 pulley will need to be installed upside down to clear upper control arm, different belt once the pulley is installed upside down.
Also, if you use the Camaro unit you don't need the A.I.R. pump delete idler. Has to be installed upside down if you use it, but most don't, not really necessary.
I put that on my '71. I haven't run it yet, but if you read the article, it covers all the issues that you need to adjust for. Because you have to clock the alternator, you cant install the brace that comes with the kit. I don't think its a big deal, just something you should know. Also, I'm running electric fans so I cant comment on how it clears with a regular fan. I like the look of it. It installed fairly easily.

They are not Junk Yards....They are "Highly Discounted Alternate Parts Sources". And for $35 I bought everything I needed to convert my basket case car to belt-drive
When I Re-do the engine bay the parts will be painted and installed (not that the "fan belt system" is a poor design/it's just time for a new belt...and while I'm at it....

Looks like the serpentine kit that's available in the GM Performance Parts Catalog. I installed one on my 68 ZZ4 SB. Really great. The kit comes with a reverse rotation iron water pump. I replaced it with an Edelbrock aluminum reverse rotation pump. I have a BeCool aluminum radiator with electric fans.
I think the GM Performance Parts catalog serpentine was standard equipment on the 90 and 91 Camaro and Firebird.

Would this be V-8 powered Firebirds and Camaros or v-6 models also?
Same here, '87 Caprice for me and the electric fans for $40 out of a '89 V6 Camaro and for those who think the fans aren't as big, those are the exact same fans as any other GM car, including the Corvette! That GM fan was used, universally for decades!
