Hello out there getting ready to get rid of my sidepipes and run full exhaust. Does anyone know if the mufflers need to be offset center or center center. Thank you Brian
It's your car, but i've found it much easier with side pipes:
On my side pipe car:
Drive onto shallow Race Ramps.
Jack up rear of car by differential, and onto jackstands.
Jack up front of car by front crossmember, and onto jackstands.
No pitching, rocking, or rolling on jackstands, and only two lifts.
My 79 gets the same treatment, but I need extra 2x8s in the rear to get clearance for the spreader bar that lifts by the spring to clear the conventional exhaust. Not to mention, the pipes are now in the way of things underneath the car.

my 1980 was offset/offset opposite of each other both stock and replacement true dual exhaust
I remember my 77 had mufflers from the factory. But that was a long time ago. I remember only that they fell off at the same time as the rest of the horrible factory exhaust. And I've never had a muffler on it since.
I know, not much help. Sorry.
I kinda like this OEM look better versus having the muffler poke out of the rear. I recently had my muffler done on Monday and i have yet to post any pics (which i will soon). I noticed a huge difference vs the oem stock muffler when i take off. My car can breath!

It has a very nice sound and you can have a conversation while driving at 70 miles an hour without any droning.

I guess the picture makes it look like that but they do not stick out from underneath the car. The mufflers are actually recessed and from looking at the back of the car you could just see the exhaust tips.
What system is that? Looks pretty good (for non-inspection areas). Is there a crossover in the line somewhere? Thx.
Here it is with my home made H-pipe crossover added. It was sold by Mid America years ago. Great system you could drop out of the car in one piece easy for service. Sold it to another forum member a while back as I went to side pipes. He threw the whole thing into the back of his pickup and drove home.
I'm just curious Stingr69...did you notice any better engine breathing (slight power increase??) after installing the true-duals...getting rid of the cat? Were you running stock manifolds or headers? Thx

Hard to say. They went on at the same time as an overhaul with Dart heads. Compression went up tp 10.4 and flow went up. Carb was richened and some smog was disabled. Ignition recurved and vac advance was revised all at the same time. No headers so it looked 100% stock. Ran very well.
Since then I built a 383 stroker for it, swapped in a TKX 5 speed OD trans and Doug's side pipes. It's a lot faster now, a lot louder too.
