I'm fairly certain my '71 used to have the horse collar insulation. I'm absolutely certain it doesn't have it currently. So I bought a new one, and would like to know if there are any tricks to installing it. Do I just jam it in from the engine compartment? How far back? And, any type of adhesive? I'd like to retain this one for awhile ; )
Yes it would have originally had one but most are deteriorated or never got put back when the trans was out for some reason.
I did mine with the trans out and used a few dabs of adhesive to hold it in, I more or less lined it up with the firewall/tunned joint but anywhere even remotely near there would be fine
No adhesive was used, they were just wedges in, laying on the trans when the body drop happened to capture it

I'm pretty sure it was there when I bought the car, but can't imagine it blew out somewhere along the line. That said, that's why I was curious if others had avoided the same fate by gluing it in.
I've seen that assembly pic before. But I don't think I want to separate the body from the chassis just to install this part ; )

I thought that was the correct placing, but wasn't sure. Thanks!
