I am replacing my front dash speakers on my 1978 that still had stock ones in place. I know these are 4 x 6 speakers and see pairs for sale on different websites. I wanted to make sure I purchase the (low profile) style so they can fit in the original space with no modifications. I know that is a tight fit when installing around the windshield area with reinstalling and need to make sure they are close to stock size as possible. Not looking for super loud speakers - just keeping car close to stock as possible and not interested in lower kick plate speakers which I know would give you better sound. Any suggestions on manufactures appreciated.
What you have to be careful with when looking for dash speakers for a 78-82 is not only getting the correct 10 ohm 6x9 speaker, but also one with a small magnet (if you're using an original Delco radio you need 10 ohm speakers, modern 4 ohm ones will damage the radio). The hole the speaker drops into in the 78-82 dash isn't big enough for the larger magnets that come on most aftermarket speakers.
I would try SM Electro-Tech, they make many different speakers for antique and collector cars.

No ohms issues with the JLs as the radio is bypassed. The amp is Bluetooth and plays tunes from the phone. I can’t answer if there is an issue with a working radio as mine does not work.
Me too. These are the ones to use if you stick with the factory radio. Has the right impedance so you don't trash the factory radio. Got the rear ones as well.
