78 Cigarette lighter
Trying to use Bluetooth wireless adapter that powers through cigarette lighter. Getting no power but I can use lighter fine, gets power to heat up. Anything I could be missing? Maybe contacts in lighter hole need cleaning!?

sounds like you need to really clean up that socket to get some good contacts.

Have you checked if it works in another vehicle? If it does work on another vehicle then it's just not making contact in your receptacle. Also on most plugins to the cigarette lighter receptacle there's a fuse inside the barrel that you're plugging into the receptacle. They usually twist open and there's a fuse inside so double check that also.

Mine was clean and did same thing.
base was loose, it screws tight i think from back.
fixed my issue..
wonder if a modern 12 v will light a coiled wire lol and heat
