Default Eletrical problem question

I have a 1969 coup with 350 engine that I upgraded distributor with Pertronix HEI ignition and flame thrower coil kit. Car has operated flawlessly for 1.5 yrs until yesterday it seemed down on power/different exhaust tone, would start to misfire/sputter when throttle was applied to accelerate. Car died and had to be towed home. Car had all the symptoms of a dead battery so I pulled battery and alternator to have checked. Alternator checked Good, Battery was low on CCA, I purchased a new battery. Replace both Items back in car, it drives the same, misfire/sputter when throttle was applied to accelerate. I omh the coil to see if it had gone bad, check good with multimeter.
The main issue I have now is that I'm only seeing 6 volts at the coil power wire! Is there a voltage regulator, or resister in the OEM harness/electrical that I can check/replace to ensure that I'm getting 12 volts to the coil? Where would one look and what would this item look like?
Sorry, 62 yrs old and very limited electrical knowledge, get a lot of my knowledge from video's, nobody local to ask C3 questions.
Any information/pointers/recommendations would greatly be appreciated

yes, 69 had resistor wire to coil.
hei needs full 12v.
so, some tap into fuse block to get 12v.
"bat" term in fuse block is used.
just make sure it is live in "run" key pos and off, no volts in key off.
common upgrade.

If I run a separate wire from fuse box to coil with 12V with key ON only, would I have 18v total @ coil now? 6 volts from OEM wire harness and 12 volts from new wire? Do I need to remove this resister wire from the coil/wire harness? If so where might it be located?
Sorry don't know how system work Volts/current wise.

no, there is no volts above 12.
disconnect the resistor wire, tape.
leave the wire from starter. it feeds coil during cranking.

also, your issue sounds like plugs not firing during load.
this can happen from gap or fouling.
since you are running hei, .045 is correct,
stock points, resitor, was .035 gap

Where is the resister wire located? What gauge wire should I use for the 12 volt wire from fuse box? Should use a certain amp fuse to attach my 12 volt wire to?
I never knew about the gap increase with HEI, I've been running .035 the whole time, car drove fine. Plugs are new, just installed 3 weeks ago along with rebuild carb from Lars. Weird, the car drove for 1.5 years in this configuration, wondering what failed to cause the voltage drop? Hope I haven't damaged the electronic module in the distributor. The car runs so its working but needs the 12 volts to operate correctly.

this sounds like the resistor wire.?
yes, less than 12v will run.
I am, have just mentioned that hei uses full 12v.
your car doesn't have a full 12 to coil because it was points, low power coil.
so, to take advantage of hei, hi power, you need a full 12v feed.

I never knew my car's electrical voltage was only 6 volts to the coil. When I had my HEI distributor ignition installed, they also put in a Pertronix HEI Flame Thrower 40,000V coil. What gauge wire should I use for 12-volt jumper wire? Is this the resister canister and wire that I need to disconnect from coil ground your talking about? Should I just remove the resister from its mount instead of taping wire end?
