Guys
Can you tell me what this electrical component is? It's on the drivers front fender just forward of vacuum tank and brake revisor. My alternator's red power wire attaches to it along with other connectors. I'm trying to learn these components; what they do to better understand how my electrical system works for trouble shooting problems.
thanks
Mike
You don't say what year this car is and apparently it must be fairly new to you as it is not listed on your profile.
That is your Horn Relay and Key Warning Buzzer. A number of lines can be connected at that point. If you have AC the high-speed fan relay gets its power from that location.
Most of the 12 volts used in the car come from there also.
The orange and heavy gauge red wires coming off of the horn relay are fuseable links. I suggest buying a large color coded wiring diagram that makes it easy to see what it’s all routed too. A Clymer shop manual has black and white wiring diagrams in the back that is harder to read but provides the wire gauge size that the color diagrams don’t. With these two you can get it done when you need too. Also NAPA Auto has the usable link wire in all the gauge sizes if you ever need to replace them.
