Default Seat bumper issue

So I ordered the new bumper kit for my seat. The other ones were bent and broken. Both the old and new seem to miss the top bumper to the bottom by about an inch making them worthless. Am I missing something here? I assume the top bumper should rest on the bottom bolt “pad”. Nothing seems bent that bad to miss by an inch

you will have to remove seat , check the bottom frame to see if it is worn out. You may need seat bottom reinforcement plate like this

i see how that would help if the frame was cracked. But if my upper bumpers are landing in the area in front of the frame it looks like it would still miss the bottom supports. Are they to sit on top? Or in front of the bottom base?

oh I see. This actually goes on the top or back rest part. Hmm. Might have to give it a try

your #2 pic shows the bottom bumper leaning forward, a good indication your bottom frame has metal fatigued. You can remove the seat back on the top frame to see if that is bent also. The top and bottom bumpers are supposed to hit square to each other.

thank you for the help. I managed to bend things to line up. I’m sure it’s a temporary fix as it’s likely to bend back without reinforcing them. But temporary is all I need. Plan is new seats down the road

FWIW and I'm not sure what year your car is but,,,, both the bottom pad and upper bumper are meant to be fully threaded in. To adjust the angle, shims were put under the bottom pads. I'm guessing since the bottom was bent someone added the jamb nut and unscrewed it to try to get the angle right again
