Default Battery

I have a 1979 Corvette, the 5th number in the VIN is an 8. I need a new battery and was looking at the options at Autozone and it's asking me to select from the engine options below on the drop down menu. I was hoping someone could help me figure what engine option I would select. Would it be the second option on the list? Thanks so much!! Robin

It's option #2 but the battery is the same for both.

If you want to save about $75 bucks with the same 3 year warranty try Walmart..

Yes, it would be the second option but that should have no effect on battery selection.

Yeah, get it from Walmart. That's where I'm getting mine from. I just put one in my son's impala. If you have the Walmart Plus membership, it's free delivery. If not, download the free Walmart app and get the free pickup in the parking lot.

I usually default to Walmart myself but within the last year or so, when I needed a battery, a friend told me to check Costco..... at that time I got a better deal at Costco...... so I suggest checking out those two. Walmart and Costco.

This is probably O'Reilly's, but it's the same idea.

I use Costco myself, but I haven't needed a battery in a while.

I'll just add this, I haven't lived in the States in a long time. But back when I did. I purchased a 2 year battery from Wal Mart for my 77. Many, many years after I moved overseas , my Walmart battery finally died.
I got 13 years out of that cheap Walmart battery.

Costco sell Interstate Group 75 batteries for about $99 (Group 75 is the correct battery for 70-82 Corvettes). BJ's has their own battery, the IBX that's made for them by Interstate, but you have to go in store to buy them because pricing and availability isn't on their website (at least that's been my experience).

For the optional HD battery, it's group 78.

Yeah, Costco or Walmart. Or the 'better' batteries at a farm & barn store too ...when they're on sale.

They're all made by Clarios anyway. Unless they've changed mfgrs lately.
