Default tires and wheels

Hello! I was wondering a little bit about the tire sizes and specifications of a 1974 Corvette, and where to find a specific size.

I know the back tires are 255/60R15, and I was looking for a set of 305/50R15 to put on it (both tires and wheels) however I have had no luck finding either tires or wheels for it in that size, and do not wish to go and smaller or different ratio as I have done the math and this size would be a near perfect fit.

I know the front tires are smaller, but there are 3 sizes it shows and seen as the vehicle (I'm assuming) is rear wheel drive, does the front size matter what I put on? and what would you guys suggest for the front?

Yes a corvette is rear wheel drive.

It seems like you answered your own question. A 255/60-R15 will fit just fine. Although the factory size is 225/70-r15 on all 4 corners.

Have you done any modifications to the rear to fit the 305s?

FYI,,,been there....
If you drive on city streets you may have a BIG problem with 305 width tires...
my car came with 295 width tires and they stuck out of the wheel wells 1/2".
I don't know HOW the previous owner did not destroy the wheel openings when he hit big bumps.
Also...even the 295 width tires tried to hydroplane in rainstorms because the tires are so wide and the rear of the car is so light.

I haven't done any modifications yet, I wanted to find the wheels and tires first to make sure I could get them seen as how rare they are

thanks for the heads up, I was thinking about using smaller tires in the front to try to help prevent hydroplaning partially

I put 17 ‘s on a few years ago and I had to use smaller tires on the front.

I'm thinking you need to do more homework on tires and wheels that will actually fit a non modified C3 BEFORE you buy the wheels and tires. Many many good threads here on this form will provide you the correct information.....
