Power steering Control Valve "Bracket"
The PSCV on my '78 has what the AIM calls a "bracket" attached to it. The only use for it is apparently to line the valve-to-ram hoses against to ensure they are in the correct position. But it seems a rather elaborate part just for that.
So I wondered if it does actually serve another purpose, or if it was fitted to other cars etc? Just curious really.🙄
On my 77, it didn't have one. I once received a replacement. It had one! I inquired on this very forum.
Seems some cars came with them. And some did not! As you stated, it does very little!
Here is what it looks like sitting on the bench. Sometimes when I rebuild the PS control valve I install it and sometimes I leave it out. Other than making it a little easier to align the hoses I don't see much use for it.

That's a bit "posher" than mine Bob! Here it is on the car:
I've noticed that the recent reproduction hoses don't fit quite a snugly to the bracket as the originals did, without the hose fouling on the valve at times. It's certainly a rather elaborate part just to give the hoses something to align with!😄
