Ok, guys, this is pix of an 82 . The car is running and has only 47k miles on it but needs a paint job. But obviously the engine was modified. I'm looking for opinions on what was done here
Thanks!!
Looks like they got rid of the Crossfire many moons ago, how does it run and shift, does the TC lock up? I see a fuel pressure regulator on the starboard fender well so it's probably using the stock in-tank fuel pump, does the fuel pump cycle for a couple seconds when you just turn the key on-(The Oil sending unit and ECM control this for safety)- ? I particularly like the bolt shoved in the hose and band clamped to plug it....I've done it when necessary...lol... Does not look like a real looker of a car and if it runs and stops OK, and the price is right it might be a good "beater Vette"... or something to tinker with...

PS: Do the numbers on the engine pad match the VIN...maybe someone just swapped out the motor...
It is number matching car. I haven't seen it in person yet, I don't have the time. He sanded the car down to prep for paint....that's a big minus. But the interior looks in great shape. He is motivated...he texted me so i know he wants it gone. Asking 5500. Its not a 82CE
Do cars/tk's need to pass emissions in your area for that yr car?
82's with the OD tranny are real nice drivers. That would be the question here ...if it works right. Note: There's way to make the tranny lock-up automatically if they just put a switch on it. I would expect a few more barnyard engineering surprises as you go. Check the body panels over real well on the back sides, to make sure there aren't too many body surprises once you get it stripped. Otherwise it ought to be cheap, huh?
no smog
pre 81 spec'd, no computer, chevy.
I can't see a vacuum module on distributor?
not sure what your questions are.
can't tell anything more than that.
You need a picture of the VIN on the Drivers side windshield frame to compare it to the engine pad, best way to verify it's "numbers matching"... That hose I mentioned above is present on an 82 Crossfire, since it has a fuel regulator it likely has electric pump-82 only, crossfires did not have a vacuum advance but how that thing runs without one now is a mystery, valve covers don't look correct to me, don't see the wires for the electric fan....I'm thinking its an 82 with a hard life, get the vin and look it up...

Thanks...Im not an expert on these cars, yet. So I appreciate the feedback.
wow, it would be expensive to find and install everything the car came with.
that is what Ca would require.
if just a sniff test, It might pass.
wonder how it ever got registered

He had the car since May....thats probably why jes selling
Edelbrock air cleaner that's nice.
Edelbrock Intake, that's fine.
Edelbrock carb, pitch it.
Someone removed the Air Pump, but left the bracket, awkwardly still there.
Shifter Tunnel side panels might contain mold. Hard to tell in photo. Something is there.
Unusual stains running down the panel. Those trim panels are basically fiber board. Hense the reason the drivers side warped and no longer fits correctly? Maybe got wet?
And, if there is an interior moisture issue, the floor pans could be bad, seat frames, electrical connectors, etc.
Upper Rad hose starting to come off Rad even with oversize clamp. Easy fix.
My biggest concern is something you can't do with just photos.
And that would be a sniff test inside. Musty, mold, odors are tough to remove.
T-Tops leak sometimes but if this sat outside with no cover, h-m-m-m-m-m-m-?

If you haven’t already, I would look into the prices of painting a C3 or corvettes in general. 5500 might seem like a steal, but you might be paying two to three times that for a good paint job.
Unless you plan on painting it yourself and want to start collecting 40 year old emissions equipment I would pass on this one. There are much nicer cars out there for only a little bit more.

That's why I run things past guys here. To get educated honest opinions. I'm not in a rush to buy
