U Joint bore prep
I recently painted my half shafts and U joints. I need to clean the bores for the U-Joints. What is the best way to do this? My thought was emery cloth (scotch brite) pads and use a pick to clean out the clip recesses. If emery cloth doesn't remove the paint/primer/rust, should I use sand paper? If so, what grit? I also have a little steering brush attachment on my dremmel. Should I use a coat of oil inside when reinstalling them? Also, I plan on painting the u joint after it is installed to prevent rust.

The best is a brake cylinder hone to clean them up. Rock Auto usually has the best price.

put some acetone on a rag and wipe off the paint....and put them together.
