Default Front Soft Top Guides/Striker plate

Ok,
So I have this 68’ Convertible I purchased somewhat in pieces. Well I think I just figured out I’m missing the front soft top receivers or striker plated as some have called them. Here is my question, a quick search has shown these are one of the “unicorn” 68’ only items, and of course mine are missing. The ones I’ve found for sale are very spendy and not in very good condition. Has anyone tried to substitute the 69’ and later top corner pieces that include the receivers as part of the molding? It seems the convertible top front latches are all the same as well as the windshield frame. Or am I missing something? Any help or insight is appreciated.
Chris

There are no 1969 Vettes near me to compare the windshield frame guides. Is this what you are missing?

no, I’m talking about the part that bolts to the windshield frame. It’s what the soft top pins locates to and the latches clamp down on.

Here’s a picture of the original that I’m talking about. I think this is a right side.

Some websites say those fit '68-'75 convertibles....others say '69-'75 convertibles.

If you buy the pair you need ('69-'75) make sure the vendor has a good return policy.

WAIT for experienced members to reply.

Gunner,
Thanks for the input. According to my research, and the price I’ve found these for ($350 each), I’m guessing there 68’ only items. That’s why my original question is can I update to the 69’-75’ pieces.

UPDATE…. I found my front latch/striker plates!!! Was looking for some door latch parts and found them in the jar I put the door parts in. I guess when I inventoried all the parts when I brought the car home I didn’t realize what they were. So I put them with the door parts. I’m sure this won’t be the first time I can’t find or don’t know what I’m doing with a C3. The learning curve continues….
thanks for those that tried to help.
a little less frustrated,
Chris
As you can see, these are not part of the corner molding like the 69’ and later convertibles are and are different than the 68’ T-top cars.

I would have stroked out at $200 ! I was about to buy some replacement '68 only stuff when I noticed a dusty box on the garage shelf...everything I needed was in the mislabled by me box

If you are NOT going for a restoration...buy '69 and later and make the parts fit!

By the way...'63 chevy pickup door push-buttons fit a '68 Vette!
