Not certain where in Australia you are. Or how you purchased a car without a vin tag. When I brought mine in it went through 3 different inspections before it could be registered. A photo of the vin location on the windshield frame?

Are we certain we know where to look? Drivers side of the windshield, (that's the left hand side as your seated in the car) just about 100mm above the front fender tip.

See VIN right about dead centre of photo.
If this is missing I believe you have big problems.

Could have a state issued sticker in the door jamb if it was a recovered theft car

That kind of thing is highly unlikely in Australia. They are pretty picky about numbers.
However I have seen some really dodgy stuff on older vehicles that were registered in Australia many years ago. If somewhere in America it was renumbered as a theft recovery, you would think something this important would be disclosed by the seller.

Default reply sorry not very good with forums. Where the Vin

Where the Vin should be on window frame is empty. Just screw holes. Car originally imported by a David King in Victoria. The engine number and the trim tag all match. But I promise the Vin tag isnt present on the window pillar. Just looking for help as this is a first for me. Have contacted the seller at the Gold Coast and he claims he never looked for it.

In what ways do the engine # and trim tag match? I don't recall any correlating info between the two on my '72.

Does your car have a GM label with the VIN on the end of the driver's door?

Oh, and on my 77 there also is nothing on the trim tag that correlates with the engine number. Nothing.

On 82's, the trim tag includes the last 6 digits of the VIN. Does the VIN on the trim tag match the VIN on the block and whatever paperwork you have for the car?
