I don't know if this is due to new keys I just had cut, but they both worked a couple times for each new key, then this:
Key turned fine into start position but will not go back to the removal position. It comes all the way back just before the point which they key can be removed. Key is stuck in the car. Fortunately the Accessory position is not switched on. I guess i need to remove the lock from the column??
Dumb question, but is the back drive lever in the full up position depending on the year of your car? It has gotten many. Second guess would be the rack itself.
Make sure the “reverse lock out lever” on the steering column (which can be seen on the firewall right where the column comes out of the wall) is in the highest position. If its not it will lock the key in the ignition. It’s a pretty common occurance.

Oh shoot. I think you got me there. I had just put the car in neutral to roll it for a little more space to work. Dang, I feel dumb.

's all good – everyone here has run into a problem that's a head-scratcher with a very simple solution. On the bright side, aren't you glad you don't have to dig into the lock-out cable, trans levers, and steering column? That's an enormous win!
