Is there a certain way to store the t-tops in the back of the car on my '78 model ?

Do you have the T-top strap? You could try one of these storage cases. Perhaps add some more foam between them.

Mine stay so far in the back, they live in my basement.

Yes i do have the factory straps, but didn't know there were bags available...ty

Yes, the cars came from the factory with 2 black vinyl bags, one for each top for storage.

If you spring for the money there are padded bags with zippers so that both tops fit inside like a suitcase.I know Zip has one.
