So lets beat a dead horse. So I have a 71, 350 sbc. Where are y'all buying Headers and side exhaust. Is there such a thing as a cheaper set of longtube headers and side exhaust? What have y'all used?
Long tube headers= under car exhaust.
stock type side pipes = Stock type manifolds.
Hooker type side pipes with there special headers. Well, it's a complete set.
Cheap Lake pipes, in theory could be custom hooked up to factory manifolds, shorty headers or with creative U turn exhaust parts, maybe long tube headers, (read, absolutely crazy). But certainly wouldn't work well.
If you want nice side pipes, A. Not cheap and B. Don't work with long tube headers.
I went with Doug’s headers and sidepipes in stainless. Had them on my 74 and they fit and held up for many years. Buy once cry once as they say. Also ordered the VettePack inserts from Classic Chambered Exhaust.
So then do side exhaust normally just connected to your factory manifold?
As in stock type side pipes or lake pipes. Yes.
Hooker type or the Dougs pictured above, (very similar).
Are complete sets with special side exit headers into 4 inch pipes.
No such thing as standard long tube headers connected to side pipes in any normal way.
If your looking for the cheap road, you really bought the wrong car.
