I need to replace a back-up light bulb on my 73. I removed all three of the screws from the lens, pulled and pulled on the lens, and the light did not budge. What am I doing wrong?
I used one of the narrow plastic trim removal tools to pry my lenses off... started at the top and slowly worked my way around to clear the white gasket in the pic below.
You did a SUPER job of removing them and saving the original seals. If you can find quality replacement seals, that would be best. If not, and the original seals are still pliable, reuse them. If there are any cracks or minor tears in them that might allow water to enter the lamp, use a dab of silicone sealant to patch or re-join as needed and allow to cure before installation.
Or a dental pick with a small hooked end. You can insert the hooked end either through the screw holes or go to the outside of the lense to get the hook behind the lense. Use a piece of cardboard, a piece of plastic, etc between the pick and your paint to protect the paint. Pry a little here and there so as not to stress the lense too much and risk cracking it.
