Anyone have experience doing vinyl tops? I’ve got a chance to buy a painted hardtop to replace the missing one on my 70. It’s got multiple coats of paint on it but my car came with vinyl so I figure that should be something I can handle. Would I need to strip all the paint first?
You have a rare opprtunity here. You do not need to leave a vehicle for several days in a body shop collecting dust.
Do you have a pickup? Put the top in the back and go visit a couple local shops for an estimate.
Those shops have done a few. You likely have not.
I would not want to put a lot of money into materials only to have the vinyl come loose later.
Ask the shop about any warranty.
Ask yourself if you have a warranty.

Unfortunately I have to pass on this top because I have no way to move it today. If it is still available in a couple months I can handle it next trip. Taking care of a Corvette from 1500 miles away is an extra challenge. I'm a fool for punishment!
