I purchased a new set of insulators for my 69 side exhaust covers, when removing the old ones I noticed that there is a aluminum shield that’s riveted to a piece of white fiberglass, this piece of fiberglass on my old insulators has broken and missing pieces,. Can I purchase this piece anywhere or can someone tell me how to repair it. ThanksLast edited by lingerlost; Today at 01:49 PM.
The old insulators has this white fiberglass cover that’s riveted to it, with this aluminum shield along with the front mounting bracket attached to it. As you can see on the new covers, they don’t have the fiberglass shield. Can I purchase the fiberglass shield , or do I need to try to remove it from the old insulator cover. Which you can see on the pictures, the ones that I have are not in good shape. Any help is appreciated. Thanks

FYI, posting the same question in multiple forums is aganst the rules

And photos always go a long way in understanding the problem.

Rules????? just bad etiquette if its on tech and general....But some people wont go to the tech section....used to be full of ******** years ago...
as for the OPs question, call Keen Corvette, Volunteer vette or maybe Full Throttle corvette and talk to one of the techs or some of the other older corvette suppliers that deal with these daily. Paragon would have been a great place to get the answer but they were bought out and broken up. Willcox would have had the answer but he passed away. Ecklers and Corvette Central wont bee of help and Top Flight doesnt know what they are selliing...good luck finding old parts like that. Post up some pics of the missing parts. You might have to fabricate the aluminum shield and make your own fiberglass piece. I just repaired mine as best I could with what was left

I’m sorry I didn’t mean to break the rules, or use bad etiquette I didn’t know. Thanks for the positive response that I received, I will definitely check with the vendors that you recommended. I will also post some pictures of the old and the new side exhaust insulators.

As for the rules, you're new and me, I'd like to know if I had made a mistake... it's no biggies and constructive feedback, like adding photos, would, I thought help you along. Good luck
