Default Carpet Replacement Progress, Passenger Side

Got the passenger side carpet kit installed on my C3. Ordered the kit from JEGS, but it was supplied via a different vendor. Worked fairly well, center console pieces had to be trimmed to fit and the vent panels were slightly off, however, I am happy with the final product and would absolutely order this kit again. The most difficult part of this process was putting the center console pieces back in place, but replacing the wood fiberboard was the way to go in my situation due to the water damage my C3 had. (Home Depot had the fiberboard, cheap and easy to find. Also bought my sound/heat insulation mat from Home Depot, and cut my own pieces for a budget friendly build.)

Welcome to the Corvette Forum kc77! This is THE place to be if you have questions or issues regarding a C3 Corvette. There is so much information available here by several "Experts" and many of us Corvette owners who have a turned a wrench or two on our Corvette.

Just for your future knowledge, the company that makes many of the replacement interior and exterior parts is called alknochinteriors and is located in Texas. The owner of the company is named Al and he bought the patterns for making the factory style original carpeting for the early Corvettes. He makes new carpet sets for the older Corvettes and they will even get past the scrutiny of a NCRS inspection. I have a feeling that his parts are being private labeled for smaller companies.

Al also sells a variety of other important parts for the C3's. They make new dash pads, convertible tops, door panels and the best seat covers that you can buy.

I bought a set of black leather seat covers from him along with the new foam and an installation kit. After struggling to get the leather on the new foam and getting everything buttoned up I put the seats in the car. They looked fine until a thread broke in the top of the drivers seat near the front in a very obvious place maybe 2 years later. I mentioned it in a conversation with Al at Corvettes@Carlisle and he wanted to see the seats themselves. After inspecting the seats he asked me to ship both front seats to his shop where they removed the parts I had installed and then cleaned up the frame and polished the trim parts before installing a complete new set of leather seat covers. They even put a nice set of seat backs on the seats for me. I received the box back from him and the seats looked better than they had ever looked in my C3. All of the work was done by Al's employees and it was beautiful. Then the big thing was that Al did not charge me anything for the work that he had done to my seats to make them look better. This man stands BEHIND his products and he now has a "Customer for Life".

If and when you need a bit of help with the interior parts I would strongly suggest you contact him. Al Knoch helped me out when I was trying to do this myself to save some money. I know several Restoration shops that use his parts during the work they are doing on customers cars.

Great work you have done there! Enjoy that Corvette of yours!

This is great information, I'm definitely in need of new seats! My C3 has significant rainwater damage and I have been looking for a starting point with mine, so I'll have to reach out to him. Thank you for the information and your kind words!
