Default Sparkplug Wire Brackets

Hello All,

After purchasing my 79 L48 and doing some much needed suspension repairs the time has come to change the sparkplugs and wires. The PO installed some cheap wires and is a wire nightmare inside the hood. I would like to take the original cable route, put prior to that I need some help:
1. Does the 79 L48 has the boomerang (v shape) heat shields? The 79 Shop Manual I have does not show the boomerang heat shields (See manual photo)
2 I need to purchase the sparkplug brackets and the grommets, but there are not part numbers in the shop manual. I am hoping that some of the members that have purchased them in the past can provide me with part numbers or point me in the right direction.

Any and all help is greatly appreciated
Thanks

Give me a few minutes, I'll get you some part numbers...
In your photo do you have the steel brackets in view B & C and just need the plastic wire separators?
They are called supports in the AIM...
79 had the boomerang shields...
The only part that is not available is GM 354332
The plastic retainer GM 357125 will come as a 4 wire separator, just snip off the 2 outers...

Here is GM 357125

Not the first time you help me out BMotoJoe, THANKS! I don't have the steel brackets in views B & C, I guess the PO thought they were not needed. Thanks for your fast response and setting me straight, YOU ARE THE MAN!

Some additional illustrations. These should be easy to pick at swap meets where vendors are plentiful.

This the loom that secures plug wires as they come from the cap

Wires then feed into a four-hole grommet that slides into a metal bracket that bolts to the block.

Here is the bracket that bolts to the block. The grommet slides into the bracket.

Somewhat obscured, but you can see how wires consolidate into the grommet and bracket assembly

Hope this helps!

I will check whit Doc Rebuild. This is my first Vette, so I never heard from them before but looking on Google their website says they have over 12K parts in stock. Thanks! Appreciate the photos hun4cleanair. Now I can clearly see how the brackets mount to the block, Awesome!

As you can see in hunt4cleanair photo of the 4 wire rubber grommet the originals are numbered in a specific order.

Thanks. I lost one of the wire separators on my engine. I'll take a look at their site.
