I have a 71 and have 255/60's in the rear and 245/60's in the front. the 245's do rub on the front at full lock. on my car I would not put 255's in the front. BUT 255's in the front may work in your car or someone else's.

I have 255s on the front of my ‘76. It slightly touches the frame at full lock, but that’s something that only happens at low speeds in parking lots. If it really bothers you I’ve heard of people limiting the steering travel, but I simply choose not to be bothered by it.
I run 255/60-15's all around. Never rub at speed. I can see the heads of the carriage bolts that mount the steering box get lightly buffed from full lock parking lot turns. But you would never be at full lock at speed.

Same tire combo set up on my ‘72. Same result on front. Not a problem. Just an observation. I like the look and stance.
