Default Speedo & Tach replacement

With my car at the shop to get finished and running, I'm home working on interior parts, starting with my new speedometer and tach.

These beautiful Autometer pro-comp ultra-lite gauges are self contained, do I keep the factory plastic lenses or leave them out? This is a restomod so originality isn't a concern. Thanks in advance.

Do both old lenses have scratches or cloudiness that can't be buffed out? If so, I'd leave 'em out...

I'd run the factory lenses. Will help keep the guages clean.

I would also use the factory lenses. If scratched or clouded they can be polished.

Google this: Novus plastic polish kit
This product I have heard a lot of good things for fixing marred plastic.

I would probably buy new ones if I decided to keep them in. it's a bit cleaner look with them out, but then there's a seam left where they went.

Autometer gauges without the lenses.
Autometer gauges without the lenses. I found the lenses hit the front of the gauges and didn't fit well. I used black foam weatherstrip to fill the gap left by the lenses.
