Jack ID Question
Jacks used between 69 and around 75 (or 76?) had a letter and number on one of the scissor bars. "C9" would be March 69 and "L3" would be December 73.
From around 75/76 through 78 the jacks had a three digit date stamped into one of the rivets. In this format the first number was the year and the next two were the week of the year. "734" would be the 34th week of 1977.
The jacks used from 79 through 82 had a four digit date stamped into the top of the end bar the lifting screw goes through. I think it was the bar on the end that the lifting screw has the hex head on. These jacks are dated with a number for the year, a letter for the month and two more numbers for the day. A jack dated 1E22 was made May 22, 1981 ("1" is 1981, "E" is May and "22" is the 22nd day). I think this dating format was used into the 90's or early 2000's, when GM finally discontinued the service replacement 69-82 jacks, so a "1" could be 81, 91 or maybe even 2001.
