Default Speakers in 74.

Getting my 74 back on the road.
Updating sounds system.
Found 4 speaker holes is back cargo area wall.
My question is:
Should I go for 4 separate speakers in the existing holes?
Along with the kick panels.
Or should I go with a soundbar that is supposedly sounds OK?
I need the space for my removable rear window.

TIA

Don't think there were any holes in that back wall factory. Or a removable rear window in a 74 for that matter.
So clearly you aren't shooting for NCRS Correct.
I run one of those speaker bars with 6 speakers in it.
Sounds good to me. But the true stereo sound guys that get super picky about such things don't like them. But there not happy without spending a bazillion dollars on stereo equipment no matter what.
My hearing just isn't that great I can tell the difference.
As far as holes in that back wall, I would think it would let in a lot of outside noise.

I agree on noise.
I trust my guy, I want to see what my options are.
I am not an audiophile, but I like some thump in my music.
For less than $200, what do you expect?
When I first spoke to him he said $400.
I will keep the forum posted.

[img alt="I wanted to save space so I mounted mine in the back wall. I purchased foam speaker baffles from crutchfield and fiberglassed the outside. Then used seam sealer to seal them in place. I don't think the noise level is any different than if you built boxes and mounted them in tne corner recesses.

Not sure what happened to the picture, and why it posted twice.

If you replace the 4x6 dash tweeters with better quality 2-way 4x6 speakers AND put some decent speakers in the front kick panels, you probably don't need any rear speakers. But, if that's what you want, a sound bar would make more sense than using up your space with speakers...or blocking those speakers with the stuff in the storage area.
