At least on 68-72 cars the front 'foot' of the seat mounting tracks extends forward so it is seen when in the car.
St.Louis cut a small 'tab' to cover the foot and bolt.
It's a nice little detail.
If you want a nice looking installation, spend some time reading some of the posts that Forum Members have provided. You will learn a ton of tricks and the job will go 1,000 times easier. My favorite was leaving the new cARPET IN A HOT CAR so that it will be more pliable, also a small inexpensive pencil soldering iron works best for the holes. Buy at least 4 awls to locate holes for seats, belts, and other items. A new good pair of scissors is a must. Go slow, Good Luck.
The "STEP Drill Bit" is the wonder of Carpet installing. Use one whenever you need to make a hole, the Step drill Bits will not catch a thread and pull it out or get twisted up in it.
I like leaving the carpet in the car to get hot as will and still use a heat gun as needed to get the detailed areas. I kept several heavy pieces to hold the carpeting in place and clamps to hold it on the vertical surfaces while the contact cement dries.
