You can get a copy of the original shipping information from NCRS.

Other than that, there's nothing out there for what options your car came with or past owners. GM just didn't keep these sorts of records and state registrations were paper/pen and never converted to searchable digital records.

Hello,

Knowing the vin can be the first piece of the puzzle.

For example:
The VIN derivative is stamped on the engine pad and the transmission case. That info will be good start in determining if the car's current engine/transmission are what were in the car when it left St Louis.
It's possible to look at the forward side of the driver's side front wheel well and determine if it appears that the car had transistor ignition originally.
It's also possible to look at the back side rear valance panel for hints as to whether this car left the factory with side exhaust.. The vin sequence number will be a clue whether the car was even 'late' enough to have the side exhaust option.
The red line on the tach can also be a clue as to what the original engine was.
And there's more.
The Trim Tag rivet to the drivers side a pillar will indicate the cars original paint color and the interior color.

So, not a nice long list but still a vital piece of information.

Good Luck!

Regards.....

Location of the engine stamp pad:
Configuration of the original engine for the car with this vin number.

Trim Tag:
Body color
The Interior color
Assembly date

There is a large block of shipping data from vins missing from 69. On both of my 69’s, NCRS didn’t have the info. It was missing from GM.

Do you know if the missing data is from early or late production? My car was built in the last week of December 1969 and I would like to get the shipping document.

FWIW My old 69 was built in December of 1969 and I was unable to get a shipping report for it. Hopefully you’ll have better luck!
