Door hinge issue
1980 350. AT
Guys,
anyone work on their upper hinge while attached?
the ‘S’ shaped rod within the hinge has broke, dis-abling the stay open feature of the door. Wondering if its a replace in situ, kind of thing, or remove, replace and re-insrall the whole hinge? Or just live with the door always wanting to close on your leg….

There are several threads about this on here , and also videos if you do a search. Mine is broken also, and I have the tool to tweak it into place. The problem I am having is I have electric windows , so the protective case from the car to the door keeps getting in the way of the hinge , and there is very little room to get the spring in the hinge. I messed with mine for at least 30 minutes trying to get the spring in the hinge in order to tweak it and knock the spring up. No success . Some day I may try again if I can find a better video of someone doing it on the car..
