Default 69 corvette engine code

Hi,

I would like to buy a 69 corvette with a big block. I already have a 68 small block. I am trying to verify the engine code but I can’t find any information on that suffix. It seems that it is a 427 cu 390 HP. The engine code is T1106LE. Not sure if it is a 1 or a I but sur of the suffix. Anyone has an idea of what kind of block it is ?

thank you.

The Lime Book shows the LE suffix as a 1969 427 from a passenger car:
LE 69 427 335 4B,TH400 PA
http://www.camaros.org/pdf/LimeBook.pdf

So the engine is likely period correct, but not original.

"1"s and "I"s were often substituted for each other in engine stampings. And "6" and "9"s were often flipped to make "9"s and "6"s.

"T" is the Tonawanda engine plant, "11" is November, "06" is the sixth day of November and "LE" is a 427/3305 out of a 69 full size as Bikespace noted above. On any day at Tonawanda (or Flint for that matter) November could turn up stamped as "11", "II", "I1" and "1I".
