Default Help!!!!!

I an replacing the steering box, rag joint and pitman arm on my 1975 C3. The new box is exactly the same as the original and when I Installed it it's about 3/4 inch below the steering column. So I then put the old box back in just to see how it lines up and it also is 3/4 inch lower than the steering column. This makes no sense and I'm starting to lose it! Help! Thanks John

Steering columns can be adjusted by loosening the three bolts on the firewall. You may have to pull back the carpeting to see them. BTW, how are your body mounts. That can play a part in alignment too.

Question: Are you saying the column is out of parallel with the box input shaft?

OR

Are you saying the steering column shaft has a 3/4" gap between the end of the steering column shaft and the box input shaft?

THOSE ARE TWO COMPLETELY DIFFERENT PROBLEMS.

The rag joint is 3/4 of an inch below the steering column. The only way iI can get it to connect is to remove two of the 3 mounting bolts and tilt it up but obviously the 2 bolts dont line up with holes. I will take a picture and post it later. Thanks
