I want to install this new aluminum overflow tank (not original, but I can't stand the plastic) I got, but I'm not sure about the position in the engine bay.
Does the height matter?
I wil put it against the wheel well in front of the fender vent area.
Will make some steel brackets to hold it firm and straight.
You will want to be able to access the cap easily to fill the tank as needed. Does that tank hose nipple reach to the bottom of the tank on the inside or is there a return port on the bottom? You need to have a bottom pickup so the fluid can return to the radiator when it cools.

I can switch one nipple on top and screw it in on the bottom. I’ll just have to add some teflon to make sure it seals well.
Does this tank have a bottom outlet for overflow that is not shown? I have a tank installed that has a tube running up from the bottom to near the cap. Any overflow drains out once it reaches the top of that tube. See first picture
Also the connection to the radiator cap on my tank is at the bottom to allow fluid to return to the radiator (next picture). If your tank has a port internally reaching the bottom than you're pretty much OK
Mine is from Canton years ago so what they have now looks different from the outside. And these are kinda pricey. I paid maybe half of what these are selling for
One more note, I see no reason to ever have to fill or empty the tank. It should reach some sort of equilibrium with your cooling system.
I switched one of the two top nipples to the bottom of the tank. Now there is one on the top side and one on the bottom.
That should do it?
So your only connection to the radiator should be through the bottom port. Keep the tank about 1/2 full of fluid, but not so full that it runs out the top when you are at full temperature on a hot day.
