I have a 1982 Corvette that has a very dark brown console. Top around the shifter, it’s got power windows and power mirrors and it’s an automatic. I can find black replacements, but not a dark brown one. Does anybody have a lead on one of these or a supplier? Do they exist?
In the pic, at least to me, it looks black and in really good shape. The various ‘Vette parts suppliers do offer various paints and interior dyes in all of the colors though if you want to refresh it. If going that route, just make sure to strip it well, clean it and degrease it well and apply a self etching primer before your top coats.
There are liquid chrome pens/markers available these days for the shiny areas. You can just dot those areas and it really does come out looking like chrome.
The 82 Collector Edition was the only Corvette that used the brown shifter console plate and matching center gauge cluster. All other 77-82 Corvettes used the black plastic shift plate. The Collector Edition console plate is available from Top Flight, but it's considerably more money than the standard black one because they're taking black ones and painting them the Collector brown color.
