Default 81 Heater Core

I am having trouble finding a new heater core that fits my 81. I have heard of the issues associated with the aluminium aftermarket ones. I ordered a copper/brass one that looked very much like the original from Zip. The core itself is just like the original, but the tubes that connect to the hoses are too tall (they extend too far from the core before they turn 90°) to fit into the heater box - and even if I could jam them into the box - they will stick out too far to ever get them into the tiny opening into the engine bay.
I have looked very closely at every vendor that sells the copper/brass core online - and all of the pics look exactly the same and show the tubes that are too "tall" to fit in the 81.
Is there a vendor that still sells a core that will actually fit? i was hopeful that DeWitts would have something, but that was a "swing-and-a-miss."

Look at a Four Seasons brand core. Owners are constantly using aluminum radiators so not sure why you are backing away from aluminum.

Take both of them to a radiator shop and have them transfer the old tubes to the new core.

Thank Mel. None of the Aluminum units i have seen have correct dimensions and the pipes look wrong. i understand that the thickness of the aluminum will be less, but the length is also shorter. I will look at the four seasons models more closely.
