Hi, On these cold days I thought about possibly putting a choke on my QuickFuel 750. However most performance engine guys don't like that much at all from my experience. Why is there a bit of pushback on that from rodders. ?
Extra complexity and unnecessary weight (a whole few ounces.) Some people think they restrict flow at WOT. Maybe they do, maybe it’s the same as what the throttle butterflies do.
They’re not really necessary on cars that are started up just to drive around a track and be put back on a trailer. If you want to put a choke on your carb for a street car though go for it.

Choke shaft and/or plate does restrict airflow. Not so much, But enough to dismay a genuine racer.
I have a smallish SF 120 flow bench; I know choke matters a little.
I experience about same climate as does Charlotte. I removed my Qjet's choke assembly years ago; one less thing to go wonky.
I find a little throttle feathering with my Qjet's accelerator pump is adequate.

Thx, I knew there were a few good reasons but living in Charlotte winters can be real mild. Although this year could be a one off we'll see.

I live in NC as well and I have chokes on all my carbureted cars. I never go to the track and I find that a choke makes it more convenient/ easier to start the vehicle.
