Hey Guys, I just wanted to show an updated pic of my 1971 with my completed Motion accents/tribute completed. TT 15x8.5 wheels annd Lemans style flip open gas cap. Aesthetically it’s done. ( if that’s ever possible ). I wanted to say thank you for all the advice and helpful information for all my projects.
Now the gear…

Must ask about the finish on the side exhaust covers and also the use of the stock rocker trim AND the side exhaust shields??
Again... nicely done!!!

So, the side covers are from ACI. Very high quality, perfect fit. ( the hoods also from ACI ) the covers were painted using hi gloss aluminum paint then baked.
it was a bit of a project. First I removed the OE rocker trim. I laid the covers on them and marked where I wanted to grill the shield mounting holes. Ten remounted them over the pipes on the car. I did have to loosen the covers so I could finagle them over the side pipes. I tried to get them as high and tucked in as I could, using a lot of photos as reference.
thanks for looking!
That looks awesome! Incredible color combo, killer wheels, that big L88 hood and sidepipes is something every C3 should have. Love the big gas cap.
Thank you for all the compliments! I really wrestled with this direction, but I really believe that you should do what makes you happy. Also, being a muscle at guy at heart, a Motion car would’ve been in my collection ( if I was rich! ) It looked great as it was, but I knew how I wanted to make the car. I also never looked at “hurting” the cars value. So I did it my way.
It looks great. I wanted to do the Motion look on my car, but I just don't think it looks right with the 78 rear end.
As Alan 71 said, why did you leave the stock rocker trim on?

I first tried removing them. When I did the covers would not bolt up correctly and they were so high that they were halfway above the pipes!
Thanks again for all the compliments! I actually thought about reaching out to the artist that drew the poster and have him do one of the way the car is now!
