Default broken console

The passenger door window motor is intermittent but at some point the PO took the car to the dealership to get it looked at. In an attempt to troubleshoot the problem the dealer mechanics really busted up the console. It was broken in all 4 corners. By all outward appearances it was in great shape so to save it I went with some fiberglass strips and boat epoxy. It worked, there is no flex in the repair at all. JB weld probably would have done the job too.

I hope you never take the car to that dealership service department again.

Shame about the broken console but a really nice, neat repair on your part.

I typically use JB Weld steel reinforced epoxy or Bondo Glass short strand fiberglass filler for repairs like this but I really like what you did. It's much nicer and looks really secure. I might have to give the fiberglass strips and boat epoxy a try.

Looks to be way stronger than the factory. You have to love the dealer. Years ago an Acura dealer broke my console in my NSX. I made them replace it at $450. The problem is that these cars were built way before the mechanics at the dealers were born. Do they even have the manuals? Great job on the repair. Jerry

Dealers employ stupid kids that think everything is put together with plugs....No one with a collector car outside of a Ferrari should ever bring their car to a dealership. Thats just plain stupid

I didnt even realize it was broken until I took it all apart to address some other issues. I got it finished using the console repair kit from Zip (I think) with more epoxy and some small screws. The repair worked, there is almost no flex at the joint. I'll replace the walnut insert before I re-install it.

Dealerships don't have "MECHANICS" anymore, they call them "TECHS" now .............."TECHNICALLY CHALLENGED" all the real "MECHANICS" are dead or retired

When my 68 was at the body shop I watched a kid working on a late model Aston Martin. He was trying to remove the independent rear suspension. He was having great difficulty doing so and when I asked him why he was removing it he couldn’t give me an answer that made sense. He openly admitted that he had never worked on a car before. So, here’s this kid who knows absolutely nothing about cars tearing apart a very expensive sports car. The owner is a good friend and when I told him what I saw the kid was immediately fired. You never know who will be touching your car or their level of experience. Glad it wasn’t my car.

That car doesn't belong at the kind of a shop that would let a kid with no schooling stand within 5 feet of it, let alone touch it. Shame on your good friend for cutting corners & not taking it the Aston Dealership. You get what you pay for !! Don't take your your C7 / Z06 or Grand Sport to Jiffy Lube either..........They didn't know that the car takes 9.8 quarts of oil NOT 5 ............ Someone I know blew their engine like that & when towed into Chevrolet for warranty repair they laughed at him. Buy a $100,000 + car & seek out the $19.99 oil change ........there is a reason Aston Charges $800......Gotta love it. I'm a hard *** I guess, & don't feel sorry at all for those kind of people ! You know, big pocketbooks with NO brains !! Just because your wealthy doesn't mean your smart
