I have this car listed in my L88 registry, The current owner didn't do the car justice value wise by removing a number of original parts and installing modern parts IMHO:

Beautiful car. No mention of provenance. “Copies” of tank sticker and shipping report, but no pics—does that mean reproduction documents?

There were only 15 M40 automatic L88's. The L71, L89 and L88 options were available with a special CY code high shift point automatic. I personally certified the Gold L88 that sold at Mecum and it is a great car with bulletproof documentation. When you get into the L88 market, there is a big difference in price between a car that has an original motor and original factory documentation than one that doesn't.

Yep. The 17 number came from a source years ago that incorrectly did not include the 2 ZL1 cars in the L88 numbers. There were 116 L88's built and 101 M22's (Only available with L88 option). The two RPO Zl1 cars are in the 116 L88 number .

weird I don't remember hearing about L88's much in the late 60's and early 70's.. obviously living by Motion on long island \we all saw their cars at connecting highway and on the conduit parkway racing early in the mornings.. wish I woulda known...
