My passenger side window is slightly chipped on the edge. It’s hitting the pillar post weatherstrip retainers when you shut the door. The glass is clipping the metal retainer and then sitting on the outside of the rubber. It’s not going into the channel in the weatherstrip.
Can you adjust the placement of the metal weatherstrip retainer to make it line up with the window better? Or can you adjust the position of the window glass so that it lines up with the weatherstrip correctly?
One or both of those seem to be off a little bit. Passenger side window chipped Passenger side window not sitting in the weatherstrip channel
Yes, both the window glass position and the metal weatherstrip retainer can usually be adjusted to correct this issue. Since the glass is clipping the metal retainer and sitting outside the rubber seal, the window is likely too far out (toward the exterior) or too far back (towards the rear of the car).
Thanks. I'll probably replace the weatherstripping and retainers in the process, but I'll take the door panel off and adjust the window. I think it's too far out and too far forward, since its hitting the metal on the front/windshield pillar. It also doesn't go all the way up to the weatherstrip on the t-top. I need to adjust that as well. I found a YouTube video showing the process. Looks simple enough.
