I should probably have my Man Card revoked for this, but curious how these lower rubber bushings on the front shocks are replaced?
Is it a single bushing or one on each side?
Thank you
Hello,
Using an x-acto blade trim off the ragged ring of rubber.
Then find some heavy O-rings to slip on the shock.
The rubber bushings were painted along with shock.
I'll deny I wrote this!
Regards.....
Are you wanting to keep those shocks? That is a tight fit and even new ac delcos i had slipped out. I would replace shock.maybe you can buy replacement bushing only? If so glue the outer rubber well or however they say inject that.

I’m doing a restoration and the car will be judged.
These are the original date correct F41 shocks and I want to use them
Hi Joe,
You might call Mike at America's Finest Corvettes. Shocks | CorvetteUSA.com I got my correctly dated F41 shocks from him and they look and work teriffic. Best, Paul
Called Dan Patch today. He’s backed up. A lot. Getting a knee replacement in a few months and he will be even more backed up.
He can replace the lower bushing but he says it’s not easy. He made a tool to press the bushing in correctly.
Great guy to speak with. Really enjoyed talking to him.
Is Dan willing to provide the dimensions of the tool he uses? Perhaps you could make one yourself.
How big of a press is he using?
I didn't ask. I was just happy he said he would turn them around quickly if I sent them.
I have an old shock I'm going to screw around with first to see if I can remove the bushing. I still have to find a replacement bushing. To my knowledge, I've never seen one offered for sale
***since I posted my last reply, I’ve spent a good 2 hours looking for a replacement bushing. No luck yet.

I thought I would post my solution for the lower shock bushing replacement.
I was rummaging around my storage and found some new inexpensive delco shocks I had bought about 10 years ago for my 1971.
I pressed the whole assembly out of the new shock with my press using a socket.
Then pressed out the old worn out bushing from my 68 shock.
Used a little WD 40 and then pressed the new bushing and mounting tab/fork into the 1968 front shock.
Turned out good, not perfect, but better than the old one.
Looks good to me. Don't show anyone what is NOT PERFECT and they will never know. Congrats on figuring out a solution and not spending a lot of money on it.
