I pulled the factory dash out of my 79’ Corvette and installed a new Al Knoch dash. The new one seems flimsy and the color rubs off with ease. So I am hoping that the original one can be repaired. My biggest concern is an area on the passenger side where the dash attaches with 2 screws. This area was broken off during disassembly. I have attached some pictures below in hopes that someone can tell me if it is a lost cause or not.
Thanks for your advice,
Josh

[QUOTE=69L88;1609560370]Did you call Al Knoch and discuss your issues? They are very good at customer
No I didn’t. When I purchased the dash the individual that helped me wasn’t all that nice. It also took several phone calls to get them to ship it. I guess I just decided that I wasn’t going to get anywhere with them. I should have called.
I've bought from Al Knoch a few times and was very happy all around. I would call them back.
PS. Is that a CL350 I see in your garage?
Wow! You are good. Yes it’s a 1972 cl350. I am just into anything classic. My son actually bought it sometime back. It’s in ok shape. I hope that someday he and I can restore it.

I'm into the Classics too, I have a few honda CB's: 450, 550 & 750 but have always wanted a CL450.
Yes, restore the 350, parts for vintage Hondas are a lot cheaper than Corvettes!

Looks pretty rough...have you thought about painting that new one? My whole interior was repainted decades ago from blue to black and it still looks good and has held up well.

Yea I have some interior dye that matches perfectly. I thought about trying to touch it up. I have spent so much time getting everything trimmed and fit that I hate to undo it all. We have a guy here that repairs tears in seats and stuff like that. He does an amazing job. I thought about giving him a call and seeing if he could fix it up for me.

Years and years ago I sent a MoPar original to "JustDashes" and got an excellent repaired original back. I just checked and they are still in business. Not cheap but great work
