Does anyone know if side marker lights from any other year/gen Corvette will fit or can be fitted to a 1970 C3? The body work with fender flares is being done now, so the side marker light openings could be modified to fit a similar side marker light.
The front marker lights are specific to '70-'72. For '73 when GM went with the new front bumper design, they used a plastic housing rather than the previous cast pot metal. The '70-'72 rear markers were used for '73 too but '74 got the plastic housing with the new rear bumper design.
Since you are doing body work now, I will throw this out to you. C6 markers. I got the idea from a place called Heartland Customs. I picked up the rear housings from wrecked qtr panels but the front housings are part of the front bumper which is not made any more so you can guess how much those would coast. SO I made a mold, using the OEM marker lights, then made the patch and fiberglassed them in. The hardest part was getting them level. I also have C6 mirrors on the car.
I'll track down 70-72 front marker lights, and '73 rear marker lights.
Just to make sure you're aware, the rears are '70-'73.
There are a bunch of listings on eBay for the metal housings but no lenses. There are no lenses being sold separately, so the housing is pretty worthless unless you happen to have a spare lens laying around. It's really common that the lenses fall out somewhere on a drive, so if you do go with old or NOS make sure the lens is secure!
From the 1980 parts catalog for part numbers if you need them. Too bad I didn't buy a whole catalog worth of parts back then!
